Every AI interaction in Planner.coach uses credits. Think of credits as the fuel for the coaching assistant -- the more complex the request, the more credits it uses. A quick question costs very little; generating a full drill with a diagram costs more. There's no flat fee per message, so simple chats stay cheap.
How credits are used
Simple questions (like "What's a good cool-down stretch?") cost around 20 credits. Generating a drill with a full canvas diagram can cost 100-300 credits depending on the detail involved. Longer conversations cost more per message because the assistant processes the entire conversation history each time.
Monthly allocations by plan
Each plan includes a monthly credit allocation that resets on your billing cycle start date (not the first of the calendar month).

The wide range in approximate messages reflects the difference between quick questions and complex drill generation with diagrams.
Unused monthly credits don't roll over. When your billing cycle resets, you get a fresh allocation regardless of what your previous balance was.

Check your balance
Your current credit balance is visible in two places:
- Sidebar -- the credits indicator shows your remaining balance at a glance.
- AI Coach panel -- the current balance appears in the chat interface.
When you run out
Running out of credits doesn't affect the rest of the app. Your activities, sessions, athletes, and everything else keep working normally. Only the AI assistant pauses until your credits reset or you buy a credit pack.
Credit packs
If you need more credits before your next reset, you can buy a credit pack. Purchased credits never expire.

Credit consumption order
When you send a message, credits are consumed in this order:
- Monthly allocation -- used first
- Promotional credits -- used next (if any)
- Purchased packs -- oldest purchase first (FIFO)
- Granted credits -- used last
This means your purchased credits are preserved as long as your monthly allocation has balance remaining.
Teams and credits
In team mode, all AI interactions use credits from the team owner's pool. If you're a coach or admin on a team, you're spending the owner's credits whenever you work in the team context. Assistants and viewers can't spend team credits at all.
Tip: Start new conversations for unrelated topics. Shorter context means fewer credits per message -- one focused conversation is cheaper than a long, wandering one.
